Bio

Nature is inspiring, but the ways in which people interact with the mountain landscape is what intrigues painter Kevin Schwarting. Hailing from the decidedly unwild suburbs of Chicago, Kevin moved to Montana 12 years ago to pursue the ski bum ideal, and in the time since has traveled and lived across the West—but always close to the mountains. It was during one of the nipple-deep powder days that Montana is known for, that Kevin was first compelled to re-imagine his ski experiences on canvas.

His painting is deeply rooted in texture and atmosphere, and represents idealized, sometimes surreal winter experiences that shape his style in the same way that these experiences shape us all as skiers. Through use of rich color and light palettes, he captures the essence of the ski experience, rather than a mere reproduction of its visual form.
